![]() Behind the entertaining tale of crime fighting in a steampunk universe, The Thrilling Adventures presents an articulate work of philological and scientific research. Padua’s work crosses the boundaries of comics as an entertainment medium, of storytelling as a textual tool, and of historical research as a simple framework for a Victorian setting. Accordingly, in my proposal, Sydney Padua’s The Thrilling Adventures of Lovelace and Babbage will be analysed as an example of the meeting between academic audiences and popular audiences in the context of graphic narratives.
